Usage pattern: switch modalities to optimize your interaction with AI tools based on the task at hand.
We can communicate with AI tools using different modalities: sitting behind our notebook keyboard, talking to them on a smartwatch or smartphone, or interacting with a device built with AI in mind that can see what’s around us. Each modality may have its own advantages that could be exploited accordingly.
For example, when learning languages with ChatGPT using voice, it can be challenging to prompt it correctly using only voice. Consider setting up the initial prompt with a keyboard and switching to the voice modality to practice speaking more effectively.
Another example of this usage pattern is when you are planning your day, you can start by letting your thoughts flow with your voice and later switch to the keyboard to add more structure to your plans.
In principle, you can even switch between tools by copying the relevant parts of conversations.
